Context
This project involved the renovation of a house located in a historic area of Lisbon, Portugal. With a very small footprint, the main goal was to make the space functional, practical and adaptable, allowing for both own use and short or long-term rental.
Challenge
The existing layout had several functional constraints: an undersized bedroom, an incomplete bathroom, and unclear circulation, with access to the bedroom and bathroom running through the kitchen.

Design Strategy
The open-plan layout amplified the perception of space and improved the entry and distribution of natural light. Kitchen, living area and bedroom now flow continuously, with the option of compartmentalisation through custom-made furniture.

Before and After
Before renovation, the house had an incomplete bathroom, a bedroom that was difficult to use, a living room and a kitchen that concentrated all circulation. After the intervention, the space now has a full bathroom and a functional open-plan layout with clearly defined zones.

Detail and Use
Custom-made storage solutions were introduced throughout, including overhead storage above the bed area, and a small reading corner was created by the window. Where possible, existing materials were reused, such as the wooden floor.
