Context
This apartment in the Ajuda neighbourhood of Lisbon, Portugal, has views over the Tagus and Monsanto which, before the intervention, were largely limited to the kitchen and smaller rooms. The project started from that condition: reorganising the layout so that the living area would concentrate the spatial experience and the relationship with the exterior.
Design Strategy
The renovation created an open, fluid central space from which the other areas are distributed. The living area gained continuity and greater amplitude, while the bedrooms remained more sheltered, with clear transitions between public and private zones.
Open-Plan Kitchen
The kitchen was integrated into an open-plan layout, with attention to functionality and storage. The solution was designed to support daily use and maintain a clean overall reading, without losing the connection to the living area.
Central Element
A defining feature organises the new configuration: a curved timber slat wall that integrates storage and access to one of the bedrooms. Beyond its material character, this element helps orientate movement and structure the space without fragmenting it.
